Rep. Cisneros joins the Servicewomen & Women Veterans Congressional Caucus

Congressman Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) joined Reps. Chrissy Houlahan (D-PA), Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), Elaine Luria (D-VA), and Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ), in announcing the formation of the Servicewomen & Women Veterans (SWWV) Congressional Caucus. The SWWV aims to address the issues facing the fastest growing cohort in our country’s military and veteran population, women.

“Despite being the fastest growing cohort in our military community, many women servicemembers face issues related to their service, including increased sexual assaults in the ranks and lack of access to quality and affordable child care services,” said Rep. Cisneros. “I’m honored to be a member of the SWWV Caucus and I pledge to join my colleagues in working to ensure our servicewomen and women veterans receive the high quality services they deserve. It is our greatest duty as Americans to serve those who served us, and Congress must honor the promise we make to our women in uniform.”

Rep. Houlahan, an Air Force veteran elected to Congress in November, is the chairwoman of the new House Servicewomen and Women Veterans Congressional Caucus, which now has about 50 members, including Rep. Cisneros.

Rep. Cisneros is a Navy Veteran and he currently serves on the House Veterans Affairs Committee and the House Committee on Armed Services.
