In launching her campaign, Michelle stated: “I am the first African-American female Chapter President for my labor union. For over three decades I have served the State of California, most recently as a Health and Safety Director responsible for managing departments with million-dollar budgets and ensuring my coworkers were treated with dignity and respect. When I witnessed my colleagues suffering from workplace violence and abuse, I founded the non-profit American Safety Compliance and Training Institute to provide further protection and resources to victims of harassment and exploitation. I became a County of Los Angeles Community Emergency Response Team member because if my community faces a disaster, I want to be there to help my neighbors. I was elected to represent my fellow Democrats in Orange County and statewide because I believe our Party’s progressive values will make California healthier and safer. I am running for Assembly to bring my lifetime of experience and breadth of knowledge to Sacramento. Our grassroots campaign offers an alternative to the status quo, and I will listen and work for ALL of us.”

As an Assemblymember, Michelle will:

  • Promote equity for all
  • Fight for affordable housing
  • Work for policies to ensure all workplaces are safe and free from harassment
  • Advocate for affordable and accessible healthcare
  • Support efforts to protect our environment
  • Ensure fiscal transparency in the state government
