On June 1st, 2019, the Buena Park Library began the Summer Reading Program with the theme of ‘A Universe of Stories.’ Teens and adults can read their way to several mini-prizes and a chance to win one of six (6) grand prizes! There will also be many events for both teens and adults throughout the summer.
We are happy to host Bob Menn from the Tessmann Planetarium to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Moon landing, a momentous achievement in American history. Learn how the Cold War boosted the United States into the space race with Russia, discover the missions that transformed the space program, and what the future of NASA entails. The program, for both teens and adults, will be held on June 22nd at 2:00 p.m. and will last about an hour. On Monday, July 15th at 1:00 p.m., join us to watch a live webcast recreating Apollo 11’s Moon landing, produced by the American Museum of Natural History in cooperation with Star Net Libraries. This program will be around an hour long.
The library also has weekly events for both teens and adults. Every Tuesday we host Tuesday Teen Night, where teens can come hang out with friends, play video games, board games, and make crafts. On Wednesday nights we have Adult Game Night for anyone 18 years old and older. Play strategy games, classic games, or video games. Finally, we have adult events on the first four Thursdays every month. First, we have the Adult Coloring Club, then our knitting and crochet group that meets on the second Thursday, a DIY craft every third Thursday, and our two book clubs meet on the fourth Thursday.
As always, we have our book, audio-book, DVD, and CD collections available to check out. Can’t wait until we open? Try our online collections available 24/7 on Overdrive and Hoopla.
