Cypress RACES to participate in Field Day radio exercise

On June 22, 2019, the Cypress RACES (Radio Amateur Communication Emergency Services) Team will be participating in Field Day, an annual amateur radio exercise encouraging emergency communication preparedness among amateur radio operators. The team will commence operations on Saturday at 11 a.m. and conclude operations on Sunday at 11 a.m. This year the Field Day event will take place in the RACES Radio Room at the EOC and Maintenance Yard location, 5285 Cypress Street.

Founded in 1952, the Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service is a public service that provides communications personnel to government agencies in times of extraordinary need. During periods of activation, RACES personnel are called upon to perform many tasks for the government agencies they serve. Although the exact nature of each activation will be different, the common thread is communications.

Cypress RACES holds meetings on every third Wednesday of each month at 1600 hours at the Cypress Police Department, located at 5275 Orange Ave. Guests are welcome to attend.
