On Sunday, June 30th at about 2:33 a.m., the Seal Beach Police Department received a call of a commercial burglary at the Private Sneakers located at 12410 Seal Beach Boulevard. A witness saw three suspects stealing merchandise from the closed business and watched as they fled the scene in a silver vehicle.

Responding officers located the vehicle and attempted to stop it. After a short pursuit, the vehicle crashed into a fire hydrant near the intersection of Westminster Boulevard and Bolsa Chica Road in the city of Westminster. Three men quickly exited the car and ran into the adjacent neighborhood.

With the assistance of the Westminster Police Department and the Huntington Beach Police helicopter, officers searched the neighborhood looking for the burglars. One of the men voluntarily surrendered to officers. Another was located hiding in a trashcan and the final suspect was found hiding in a backyard under pool equipment.

Inside of the suspects’ vehicle were 280 pieces of stolen merchandise which consisted of athletic clothing, sports jerseys, hats, and other accessories. The retail value of these items was nearly $14,000. The merchandise was returned to the store later that day. The store’s cash register drawer was also found inside of the car.

Darryl Williams, 18 years old of Long Beach, Desmond Maglory, 20 years old of Long Beach, and a 17 year old juvenile were arrested for commercial burglary, evading police, and conspiracy. The adults were later booked at the Orange County Jail and the juvenile was released to his parent.
