Erik Fallis joined Coast Community College District as district director of public affairs and marketing last week, following board approval in June. Fallis additionally serves as executive director of the CCCD Foundation.
“Erik brings a wealth of higher education experience and is a welcome addition to the excellent team supporting our district and foundation,” said CCCD Chancellor John Weispfenning. “Erik is deeply committed to the mission of higher education, particularly the work of California’s public colleges and universities.”
Fallis previously served as associate vice president for the RW Jones Agency, a national strategic communications firm specializing in higher education. He led teams across offices in Los Angeles and Pittsburgh to advise and support campus planning, internal and external communications, executive writing, media relations, and issue management.
Prior to that role, Fallis spent a decade in the California State University Office of the Chancellor. He served most recently as director of executive writing and speechwriter for CSU Chancellor Timothy P. White. He earlier served as media relations manager under former CSU Chancellor Charles B. Reed and senior manager of operations for the Division of University Relations and Advancement.
Fallis began his career in the Office of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as a constituent affairs representative. He is a proud product of California public higher education, earning a Master of Public Administration degree from CSU Long Beach with dual Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and Political Science from CSU San Bernardino.
Fallis additionally earned Accreditation in Public Relations from the Public Relations Society of America and has been a member of the PRSA Orange County Chapter since 2011.
