Since its construction in the early 1900s, the Seal Beach Pier has served as a vital part of the community, drawing visitors from across California and around the world. On May 20, 2016, a fire all but destroyed the end of the pier. The extensive reconstruction process spanned three years, and on May 24, 2019 the newly renovated Seal Beach Pier re-opened to the public.
In recognition of the reconstruction, a ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at the pier on July 22, 2019 at 10 a.m.
The event will feature remarks by Mayor Thomas Moore, Congressman Harley Rouda, State Senator Tom Umberg, Assemblyman Tyler Diep, Orange County Board of Supervisors Vice Chair Michelle Steel, Orange County Fire Authority Battalion Chief Tracy McClelland, and Seal Beach Chamber of Commerce President Karen Kuns.
