Quirk-Silva honors scholarship recipient Stephanie Nguyen

Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva is proud to acknowledge Stephanie Nguyen, CLLCF Scholarship Recipient. The High School Honor Graduate from Buena Park was selected as a California Latino Legislative Caucus Foundation (CLLCF) Scholarship recipient. This upcoming fall, Stephanie Nguyen will be attending UC Santa Barbara.

Along with carrying a 4.3 G.P.A, Stephanie demonstrated her leadership in a number of extracurricular activities. She was active in her Model U.N., where she focused on global issues and concerns. She also competed on the Varsity Tennis and Swim Team, where her focus went beyond the classroom. She was awarded the AP National Scholar for perfect scores in multiple subjects while attending Oxford Academy.

“I am proud to see the enthusiasm by the youth in our district to pursue higher education,” said Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva. “These scholarships are a vital way in assisting those who have the desire to pursue higher education, but cannot afford it alone. I know that the two recipients truly deserve these scholarships.”

The California Latino Legislative Caucus Foundation held their third reception for the 2019 scholarship winners in Riverside. In its fifth year of operation, theCLLCF Scholarship Program received a record-number of over 1,200 applications from throughout California. Winners were selected from the highly competitive pool of applicants and evaluated using the following criteria: academic performance, personal statements, extracurricular activities, leadership positions held, special awards and honors received, and work history. Each winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship to support their education.
