The Fountain Valley School District (FVSD) Board of Trustees has appointed new leaders at both Fulton Middle and Gisler Elementary Schools, at its regularly scheduled meeting.
“We are absolutely thrilled to be able to announce the appointment of these three highly skilled and dedicated leaders! Each of these administrators is uniquely qualified to lead in their respective positions,” noted Dr. Mark Johnson. “We are confident that their collaborative approach, strong work ethic and commitment to serving our students, staff and community will make a tremendous impact for years to come.”
Teri Malpass, new to the FVSD Family, has been appointed Principal, Gisler Elementary School

She has provided training and coaching for elementary teachers in Palos Verdes USD, and, of course, FVSD, as we began the district-wide implementation of CGI.
In 2016, Teri became the assistant principal at McGaugh Elementary School in Los Alamitos USD, working collaboratively with her principal and staff, serving the students, parents and community of Seal Beach.
Ms. Malpass stated, “I am thrilled to be joining the FVSD Family, as Principal at Gisler Elementary School. It is an honor to be a part of such an amazing school with such a tremendous reputation. I look forward to working side-by-side with the staff, families and community to make a significant difference in our students’ lives.”
Teri lives in Huntington Beach with her two children, son, Brady and daughter, Blakely. Brady is a senior at Huntington Beach High School, where he plays baseball, and Blakely is a junior at Edison and a member of the La Crosse Team. Teri enjoys spending time cheering them on at their sporting events as well as spending time outdoors with family and friends.

In 2017, Erin was named FVSD’s Administrator of the Year and was later named Orange County’s Elementary Principal of the Year.
Ms. Bains stated, “It is an incredible honor to continue my administrative journey in Fountain Valley School District. Julie Gonzales, former teacher at Gisler Elementary School, has been appointed Assistant Principal, Fulton Middle School.
Mrs. Gonzales has been a member of the FVSD family for the past 12 years. Julie started her career in FVSD as a student teacher, and was hired in 2008 as a 4th grade teacher at Cox Elementary School. In 2009, she joined the Gisler staff and has spent the last ten years teaching 1st, 2nd and 4th grades. In addition to her responsibilities as a classroom teacher, Julie was an active member of Gisler’s Leadership Team and served as a Grade Level Lead, SST and ELAC Coordinator. In addition, Mrs. Gonzales participated in district committees, supporting the implementation of instructional initiatives, such as Balanced Literacy and CGI. Having these leadership opportunities inspired Julie to return to school at CSULB to pursue a master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
Mrs. Gonzales said, “I cannot wait for my newest chapter as part of the FVSD family. I’m excited to meet the incredible Fulton students, families, and staff that I have heard so much about. We are going to accomplish great things together, and I am honored to be a Falcon!”
