New report of pet killed by coyotes south of Cypress College

Coyote Cacher reports that another pet — this time an orange cat — was killed in the neighborhood south of Cypress College.

This is the fifth fatal encounter between coyotes and pets recorded by Coyote Cacherin the area bordered by Valley View Street on the West, Holder Street on the East, Orange Avenue on the north, and Ball Road on the South.

The City of Cypress urges its residents to report all encounters with coyotes.

Coyote Cacher reminds everyone:

  • Never feed coyotes
  • Be vigilant with small children in areas where coyotes are often seen and heard
  • Keep your pets on short leashes
  • Keep dogs and cats indoors over night
  • If possible, build a coyote-proof fence
  • Never approach an aggressive, sick, or injured coyote
  • Coyotes can be unpredictable and defensive on occasion. If you feel like your safety is under threat, please dial 9-1-1.
