Mark O’Connor is bringing the magic of Christmas music to Performing Arts Centers and Concert Halls throughout the nation with his ninth and largest An Appalachian Christmas tour. The national tour featuring O’Connor family members and the Mark O’Connor Band, will kick off on November 30th in Charlotte, NC and conclude on Christmas Eve with the Santa Fe Symphony. They will perform O’Connor’s classic holiday hits from his #1 Bluegrass Christmas album An Appalachian Christmas. Concert goers will hear songs including “A Christmas Carol,” “Linus & Lucy” and “Away In A Manger.” The show will also feature performances of several Appalachian themed songs, such as “Now It Belongs To You” a song that Mark’s son Forrest sings about passing a fiddle down through the generations and capturing the spirit of “An Appalachian Christmas.”
Years of O’Connor family Christmas traditions centered around music, gave way to this unforgettable show. “Growing up in the O’Connor musical household, Christmas time was a wondrous mixture of Christmas carols, fiddling, bluegrass and other traditional American music,” says O’Connor. Mark hopes to be able to share the magic of the season from this truly Americana experience.
An Appalachian Christmas has been named #1 in Appalachian & Bluegrass and #15 in Classical. Critics have described Mark O’Connor’s An Appalachian Christmas as “elegant” by the New York Times, “heavenly” by the Boston Globe and “an absolute delight” by American Songwriter.
