Rep. Cisneros discusses Ukraine allegations on MSNBC

Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) went on MSNBC with Richard Lui to discuss his joint op-ed in the Washington Post and the recent developments of the inquiry into the President’s call and actions surrounding Ukraine.

When asked how he came to his decision in the op-ed, Rep. Cisneros stated, “The President betrayed his oath to the Constitution, he put our national security at risk by withholding funds to an ally that was engaged in combat against one of our adversaries, that adversary being Russia. And he did this in order to manufacture dirt for a potential presidential opponent in the upcoming general election… This is about national security, and the President was willing to put the United States’ national security at risk for his own personal and political gain.”

Later in the interview when asked about the President’s personal lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, Rep. Cisneros said that “Rudy Giuliani has his own opinions on this and it’s all about protecting the President. His job is to protect the President. Our job is to protect the Constitution.”

Rep. Cisneros is a former Navy officer and a member of the House Armed Services Committee and House Veterans’ Affairs Committee.
