VA Long Beach to highlight “Life After Spinal Cord Injury” with the Fifth Annual Adaptive Sports Expo

VA Long Beach Health Care System’s Spinal Cord Injury Service (SCI), in partnership with Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), will host its Fifth Adaptive Sports Expo on October 10 and 11 to showcase the latest in adaptive sports equipment, activities and recreational options for those living with a spinal cord injury or disorder.

Day One, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature opportunities on the water including kayaking, rowing, paddle boarding and cycling. Water events will be held at the Marine Stadium.

Day Two, Oct. 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be held at the Tibor Rubin VA Medical Center. Activities will include cycling, wheelchair rugby, rock wall climbing, boccia ball, wheelchair basketball, wheelchair tennis, power wheelchair soccer, and badminton. Adaptive sports equipment will be on display during the event. Event is open to the media as well as the general public.
