St. Catherine’s Academy joins the fight against breast cancer

St. Catherine’s Academy (SCA) in Anaheim, CA will show their support for breast cancer and all cancers throughout the month of October. The academy will take part in selling pink bracelets and pink ribbon pins in an effort to raise funds to benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation. SCA will also pay special homage to those affected by breast cancer and all cancers at their varsity football game on Monday, October 21st from 3:00-4:30 p.m.

St. Catherine’s Academy (SCA) is an all-boys’ Catholic school with a military tradition and the oldest elementary school in Orange County. Each October, for the past few years, students have showcased their fellowship and ministry towards this noble cause.

“We are proud to support those who have been affected by this terrible disease,” said Sister Johnellen Turner, School Principal/Administrator. “We encourage everyone to participate in raising awareness and funds for cancer by purchasing a bracelet or pin and by attending our special game on October 21st.”

St. Catherine’s Academy selected the Susan G. Komen Foundation for its mission in fighting breast cancer by advancing research, education, screening, and treatment. Currently, 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime. St. Catherine’s Academy will dedicate its varsity football game to those affected by breast cancer and all cancers in which students will give pink roses to all women in attendance as a special tribute to women’s health.
