The City of Garden Grove has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its fiscal year 2017-2018
Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR). The accolade is the highest form of recognition in the area of government accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
Finance Director Patricia Song shared her words of appreciation and effort towards transparent finances.
“Receiving this prestigious award is no small endeavor as the Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting nationwide. We are continually striving to further improve our steps in transparency through technology,” said Finance Director Patricia Song.
City Manager Scott Stiles expressed his gratitude towards the Finance Department and their continued work in accurately measuring and reporting the City’s financial position every year.
“The City is committed to continuously providing a thorough and transparent report of the City’s financial state, made possible by the diligent and professional staff in charge of our City finances,” said City Manager Scott Stiles.
The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of transparency and full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story.
The GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, Illinois, and Washington, D.C. The City of Garden Grove has achieved this prestigious award 34 times.
