St. Irenaeus Council of Knights of Columbus raising funds for vets’ wheelchairs

The Veterans Administration Hospital in Long Beach is the focus of many local efforts to help the military veterans who are medium- and long-term patients there.

One such effort is a wheelchair drive by the Council of the Knights of Columbus Council hosted by St. Ireneaus Parish in Cypress.

The Cypress Council 8599 is leading a fundraising drive to purchase wheelchairs for veterans at the Long Beach VA Hospital.

According to the Knights, each wheelchair costs $150, and the Knights’ goal is to purchase 20 chairs to improve the mobility of veterans at the Hospital. Delivery is scheduled for today, Veterans Day, November 11 — but you can still help the Knights pay for the wheelchairs by calling Rick Tkach at 714-829-7289.
