45th Congressional District candidate Greg Raths endorsed by former Congresswoman Mary Bono

Mayor of Mission Viejo and Congressional Candidate Colonel Greg Raths USMC (RET) has been endorsed by former California Congresswoman Mary Bono, who was first elected in the 44th district, and then the 45th. She served the Orange County community in Congress from 1998 to 2013.

“I’ve worked alongside Greg Raths for years. He is a skilled natural leader, and I fully endorse him in his run for my former seat in Congress. He is running to get things done. Not many have his tenacity and tireless work ethic when it comes to problem solving for the good of our community,” said Bono.

A successful businesswoman and well-known political leader, Congresswoman Mary Bono was hailed as the “embodiment of powerful American womanhood” by the Washington Times, rising to become Chairman of the influential U.S. House Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing and Trade. In 2012, she became the first ever Chairman of the Women’s Policy Committee (WPC) in the House. Today, she is widely recognized as a national leader on privacy and technology issues as well as an outspoken advocate on issues important to women.

“I’m very honored to have earned the endorsement of former Congresswoman Mary Bono,” said Raths. “Mary served our community well for over 10 years, and is an inspiration to me. I look forward to continuing the work she has done for our community.”

Colonel Greg Raths USMC (RET) is running for the 45th Congressional District representing all or portions of Irvine, Tustin, Villa Park, Orange, Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Rancho Santa Margarita, and Mission Viejo.

Raths served our nation for 30 years in the United States Marine Corps. He is a highly decorated combat fighter pilot of Operation Desert Storm, Southern Watch, and Restore Hope. He was an F/A-18 Hornet Fighter Squadron Commanding Officer aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln. He also served as the Chief of Staff for the White House Military Office.

Colonel Raths USMC (RET) has been part of the Orange County community for many years. He came to Mission Viejo in 1978 as a young First Lieutenant, where he was assigned to the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing at the Marine Corps Air Station in El Toro. He is married to Luci, and together they have three children and six grandchildren.

Since retiring from the United States Marine Corps, Colonel Raths continues his service and dedication to those who have served. He currently serves as Vice-Chairman of the Orange County Veterans Advisory Council and President of the Mission Viejo Rotary Club. He was first elected to the Mission Viejo City Council in 2014, and re-elected in 2018. He was then unanimously elected as Mayor of Mission Viejo by his Council colleagues for 2019.

The primary election is on March 3, 2020, with the top two vote recipients advancing to the General Election on November 3, 2020.
