New Majority Orange County endorses Diane Dixon for 74th Assembly District

The New Majority Orange County Chapter has officially endorsed Diane Dixon (R-Newport Beach) for the 74th Assembly District. She is challenging freshman Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Laguna Beach) for the seat.

“Diane Dixon is a great choice to represent the people of the 74th Assembly District,” said Orange County Chairman, Steve Craig. “Diane has a proven record of success in the private and public sector. Serving as Newport Beach Mayor and City Council Member, she has been an incredible leader, making fiscal responsibility a top priority. She has been the voice of reason, delivering budget surpluses, paying down pension liabilities and has been tough on crime. Diane is the kind of voice we need more of in Sacramento.”

“I am honored to have earned the endorsement of the New Majority, the largest Republican donor group in California,” said Dixon. “I thank New Majority Orange County for their support based on my vision for the people of the 74th District and my experience as a business executive and City leader.”

Major donor groups and grassroots activist organizations are uniting behind Diane Dixon, who is now officially endorsed by California’s largest Republican donor group (New Majority), Orange County’s oldest pro-business political organization (Lincoln Club), and Orange County’s largest grassroots organization of Republicans under the age of 40 (Young Republicans).

Dixon is also endorsed by Republican leaders across California and Orange County, including Assembly Republican Leader Marie Waldron, Senate Republican Leader Shannon Grove, Republican National Committeeman Shawn Steel, former Governor Pete Wilson, Orange County Assemblyman Steven Choi, Orange County Supervisor Michelle Steel, Orange County Treasurer Shari Freidenrich, and Orange County Board of Education President Mari Barke and Trustee Lisa Sparks.

Diane Dixon spent 40 years in the private sector as a business executive before being elected to the Newport Beach City Council in 2014. She is serving her second term as Mayor, and has served as Chair of the Water Quality and Tidelands Committee and member of the Finance Committee for nearly five years, including four years as Chair. During her tenure at City Hall, she has actively engaged city residents, holding over 23 town hall meetings, working closely with local business owners and residents to solve community problems, and initiating numerous neighborhood and community improvement programs.

An active member on several philanthropic community-based boards of directors for nearly four decades, Mayor Dixon has been married for 44 years to career prosecutor Pat Dixon, with whom she has a daughter, a former prosecutor, and three grandchildren.

The 74th Assembly District consists of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, southern Huntington Beach, and most of Irvine.
