The whistleblower in the impeachment campaign is not the only anonymous person too cowardly to publicly stand behind his/her opinion. The September 2019 issue of Jewish Life of Orange County magazine printed my column where I asked readers “Could IT Happen Here?” Of course, the “it” being another Holocaust. As Auschwitz survivor Primo Levi once said, “It happened, therefore it can happen again. It can happen everywhere.”
The thrust of my column was that it’s meshugas for Jews to remain in the Democratic Party and doing so means they are playing a major part in the rise of anti-Semitism in the United States.
Exodus Movement founder Elizabeth Pipko has repeatedly said that many life-long Jewish Democrat voters are turning their backs on today’s radicalized Democratic Party and joining the sweeping #WalkAway wave, an American movement to abandon liberalism. Speaking to The Jerusalem Post, Pipko said –
“The biggest trigger for people is the obvious disregard that many on the left have recently shown for anti-Semitic statements and actions that only a few years ago would have been immediately condemned.”
Still most liberal Jews remain Democrats. Therefore, it was no surprise that my Jewish Life column resulted in the usual liberal bashing. One Jewish Life reader too spineless to use his name wrote anonymously that he “sometimes wondered how entire nations such as Germany, Austria or Italy could follow an immoral, evil and stupid leader like Adolph Hitler,” but now he kinda understands because so many Americans support President Trump.
Interestingly, today’s Democratic Party now leans so far toward communism/socialism that Barack Obama is denounced by some in his party. The November 22, 2019 liberal Washington Post featured an op-ed by David Swerdlick titled “Barack Obama, Conservative.”
Oy vey iz mir!
How ironic that after everything Barack Obama did for the Democratic Party, he is now bupkes to many progressives.
Gates of Hell
The anonymous letter closed by urging me to talk to any Holocaust survivor.
And that’s exactly what I have been doing! Piri Katz, a 92-year-old Holocaust survivor, told how she and her family entered the gates of Hell –
In 1944, my family was forcibly removed from our homes and taken to the Munkács Ghetto for three months with nothing but the little fruit and bread my mother packed us, sleeping next to dying fellow Jews in the streets. We were then shoved like sardines into hot, crowded cattle cars, standing for days without food, water, and only a pot for a “bathroom.” In Auschwitz, I was forever separated from my father, mother, two married sisters (each with two children), younger brothers and one sister who were all murdered in the gas chambers; their bodies burned in the crematoria.
My sister and I with shaved heads, prison clothes, and numbers, were slave laborers in Geislingen, and finally near death in Dachau until 1945 when we were liberated by the American Army. Daily, people were tortured, starved to death, shot and systematically murdered. Throughout this genocide, there were no warm showers, healthy meals, sanitary restrooms or mattress bedding such as U.S. authorities provide to illegal immigrants breaking American law and entering our country.
Piri shared her horrific Holocaust experience at two Republican Women Federated events (Oct. 26 for Rossmoor-Los Alamitos club and then on Nov. 15 for the City of Orange club).
Knowing intimately the terror of fascism, Piri is a staunch supporter of President Donald Trump. As she points out in her letter and speeches –
Comparing President Trump to Hitler, a genocidal maniac who systematically murdered 12 million people – six million of whom were Jewish or stating that Republicans are Nazis – Socialist fascist murderers that sought to annihilate the Jewish people, is false and unconscionable.
To thunderous applause at both Republican Women Federated events, Piri expressed her unyielding support for President Trump.
It’s hard to believe that it’s been 74 years since I was liberated by the Americans on a train just having left the death camp of Dachau. Hitler knew that he was losing the war and we knew that he was trying to kill as many of us as possible. We were being taken to an unknown location where we would all be unloaded and shot by the Nazis with machine guns. Suddenly, we heard shooting and the train came to an abrupt stop. When the cattle car doors opened in the faint light, I could see the brave faces of the American soldiers. I heard some of the older people yelling: “Americans! Americans!” as we came off the train, half-alive, we all fell to our knees and began kissing the feet of the American soldiers. The American soldiers were all so humble as they helped us stand and I learned my first American phrase: “Let’s go, Let’s go!”
I am forever grateful that we have a president, who not only respects our military and law enforcement, but is a true friend to all Americans, the Jewish people and all people of faith, and the State of Israel. When I was in Dachau, I never would have dreamed that I would live to see the 71st anniversary of the State of Israel and that our 45th American president, President Donald J. Trump, along with Vice-President Mike Pence, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo would pray at the Western Wall, the only remains of the Second Temple of Jerusalem. I was beyond elated when President Trump kept his promise, moved the U.S. Embassy to and recognized Israel’s eternal capital of Jerusalem, and Israel’s sovereignty over the Golan Heights.
People often ask me if I worry about the rise of anti-Semitism in the Democratic Party. The answer is yes. Yet, Jews are not their only targets. Anyone who does not align themselves with the Democrat left is a target.
Oy gevalt, from the day Donald Trump won the election, Radical Leftist Democrats have repeatedly tried in vain to remove him from office, each time failing miserably. Now we are less than one year from the 2020 presidential election and the Democratic House wants to impeach President Trump for ambiguous reasons.
Reps. Adam Schiff and Jerry Nadler with the full support of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (all shmendriks) are pushing for impeachment because President Trump:
- Had the audacity to win the 2016 election against Hillary Clinton.
- Is poised to win re-election with a bigger Electoral College landslide.
- Hurt the feelings of career bureaucrats who believe they (not the president) should make U.S. foreign policy decisions.
- Is presiding over the best economy in 50+ years with low unemployment (especially for blacks, Latinos and women).
- Keeps campaign promises.
Once the House votes to impeach, there will be a trial in the Senate. Americans will have a front row seat to learning about the Deep State’s chutzpah in trying to oust a duly elected president. Bring the popcorn and latkes as it’s going to be very entertaining!
But let’s focus on the reason for the seasons. From my Hanukkah menorah to your Christmas tree, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and thanks to President Trump, it will be a Happy New Year!
