The Cypress Choraliers spread holiday cheer

The Cypress Choraliers just finished seven holiday gigs that brought smiles and holiday joy to many people who live in long-term care centers, as well as members of philanthropic groups in our area. This talented group of women singers is led by Director, Mary Wissink, who has been directing and organizing the Cypress Choraliers for almost twenty years. Our performances this year included gigs at the following care centers: The Grove in Cerritos, Rowntree Gardens in Stanton, Acacia Adult Daycare Center in Garden Grove, and Brookdale in Garden Grove. We also sang at holiday events for the Womans Club of Cypress, the Cypress Senior Center, and the East Whittier Improvement Club in Whittier.

The Choraliers do not charge a fee for their performances, but do accept donations for a scholarship account that is held by the Womans Club of Cypress. As a member myself, I can attest to the fact that, although the singers are not professionals, many are quite skilled and are also members of other vocal groups, such as the Meritage Vocal Arts Ensemble, the St. Irenaeus Parish Choir and the Westminster Chorale. We enjoy the camaraderie of the group and the opportunity to sing a variety of songs, both sacred and secular, in three-part harmony. We love to see the happiness that sharing music brings to people, young and old.

Mary Wissink is accepting new singers in January. If you are interested in joining this musical group or interested in booking them for a Broadway performance in the spring or a holiday gig in 2020, please contact Mary Wissink at 714-609-5023.
