St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church hosted over 250 persons would otherwise be alone or Christmas dinner this past Wednesday, Christmas Day, 2019.

In attendance were survivors of the Paradise fires, that have recently relocated to the Los Alamitos area, including a 102-year-old woman who lost everything during the disaster. Other attendee’s included Korean and Viet Nam Veterans, Leisure World residents and persons transitioning from homelessness.

Over 100 volunteers from St. Hedwig Parish & School, donate, prepare and serve hot fresh delicious food so that guests may enjoy the spirit of Christmas in the company of others, free of charge.

“Jesus Christ , himself is the greatest gift of all. For all of us here at St. Hedwig Parish having all of you with us today is our greatest gift to you”, said Deacon Henry Eagar, lead event organizer, as he welcomed guests.

After receiving a special blessing from Father Dan Wilder, Parochial Vicar of St. Hedwig Parish, guests were served hand carved turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, dessert and beverages, while entertained with live Holiday Music and Christmas Carols. All of the table decorations including hand drawn placemats and small take away gifts were donated from by the families of St. Hedwig Catholic School.

In addition to the presence of Father Dan Wilder of St. Hedwig, Father William Goldin of St. Irenaeus Church in Cypress attended in service to others and offered personal blessings to guests.
