January 23, 2020

Petty Theft Report – 12:28 p.m. – 5400 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – $300 in Lottery tickets were reportedly stolen from the business. Report taken.
Incident Report – 2:57 p.m. – 4500 block of Amberwood Ave. – The reporting party turned in two rifles for destruction. The reporting party’s father recently passed away and the family no longer wanted them.

January 24, 2020

Shots Heard – 5:37 p.m. – 4900 block of Sharon Dr. – One loud gunshot was reportedly heard, possibly from Erow. A passerby advised that it was possibly a firework or tire blow-out in the area of Moody/Sharon. Unable to locate.
Suspicious Circumstances – 8:02 p.m. – Moody/South (Cerritos) – The reporting party was yelling “Help me” and stated that someone was following her and then drove into her. The female had a knife and started running with the knife. Police deployed a Taser. The subject was taken into custody. A light pole was about to fall down due to a traffic collision. LASO Cerritos notified. Police transported the subject to the hospital. A 25-year-old Golden, Colorado resident was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, DUI, resisting an officer, and brandishing a weapon. The female was transported to Orange County Jail.

January 25, 2020

Illegally Parked Vehicle – 10:57 a.m. – 4700 block of Santiago Dr. – The caller complained that an SUV was parked blocking her driveway. Police determined that the vehicle was not blocking her driveway. The caller was counseled over being upset that the vehicle was parked in front of her house.
Traffic Stop – 3:44 p.m. – Orangethorpe/Centerpointe – Following a traffic stop, police arrested a 40-year-old Los Angeles resident for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substances, and driving without registration.

January 26, 2020

Assist Other Department – 12:21 a.m. – Walker/La Luna – Cypress Police Department was performing a felony traffic stop at the location and requested that La Palma Police shut down all lanes of traffic at Walker and La Palma. Assisted.
Pedestrian Check – 10:33 a.m. – 5400 block of Orangethorpe Ave. – Following a pedestrian check, police arrested a 56-year-old El Cajon resident for outstanding warrants and additional charges of possession of controlled substances and theft of lost property.
Disabled Vehicle – 10:05 p.m. – Orangethorpe/Valley View – A vehicle reportedly collided with the curb line. A flatbed tow truck was requested at the owner’s request. The subject stated that he collided with the curb line but could not see any damage to City property. The vehicle was removed from the roadway.

January 27, 2020

Medical Aid – 4:04 p.m. – 7700 block of Valley View St. – A female reported that her son wasn’t breathing. The family was driving the child to the hospital. The child was admitted to the hospital.
Transient – 5:22 p.m. – 7000 block of Moody St. – The caller reported a homeless encampment with a shower curtain and other property. The area checked okay.

January 28, 2020

Suspicious Circumstances – 9:32 a.m. – 8000 block of Dawn Cir. – A bicycle was reportedly in front of the gate at the location. The caller was concerned because the residence should be vacant. Police checked the bike, which did not look like it had been used recently. The bike was caked in leaves and dirt. Reporting party advised.
Petty Theft Report – 5:35 p.m. – 5000 block of Malaga Dr. – $100 of miscellaneous property in a tackle box was reportedly stolen from an unlocked vehicle. The reporting party had surveillance. Report taken.

January 29, 2020

Transient – 8:53 a.m. – 5900 block of La Palma Ave. – A subject was reportedly sleeping on the south side of a business. Police contacted the subject, who left the area.
Petty Theft Report – 12:22 p.m. – 5500 block of Ozawa Cir. – A catalytic converter was reportedly stolen on Jan. 28 at 3:15 p.m. The caller had surveillance footage. Report taken.
