Michelle Steel released the following statement on the recent Orange County law enforcement report that showed more than 2,100 illegal criminals have been released in Orange County as a result of California Senate Bill 54, California’s Sanctuary State law.
According to a report, over 400 criminals have re-offended in Orange County since their release. Charges include rape, assault, domestic violence, and driving under the influence.
“Senate Bill 54 hinders our law enforcement officials from doing their job, and this week’s report clearly shows that Orange County families are being put in harm’s way. Public safety is the most fundamental responsibility of government, and unfortunately, SB54 is allowing dangerous criminals to return to our communities. This is why I helped lead the county’s effort to fight SB54, and today I stand with our law enforcement community against SB54 and will continue working to give them the necessary resources and information needed to keep Orange County safe.”
