Senator Ling Ling Chang responds to State of the State

Today Senator Ling Ling Chang (R – Diamond Bar) issued the following statement in response to Governor Newsom’s State of the State Address:

“Half of the voting population recently considered moving out of California. This is a sad fact that indicates our state needs big changes. State government is spending more money than it ever has in history, yet too many Californians can’t afford a home or find themselves living on the streets. That should be the state’s focus. The governor deserves recognition for making the homelessness crisis a priority but it’s important to understand this crisis is years in the making. We can’t just tax, spend, and regulate our way out of it.

“Every time we make it harder to live in California — such as recent laws restricting independent contractors’ ability to find jobs — we are making the overall problem worse. Homelessness and crushing cost of living will require tough decisions. I look forward to working with the governor and my colleagues on solutions that gets people off the streets, empower them to make a living, and make California more affordable for everyone.”
