Newport Beach Police Association endorses Diane Dixon for 74th Assembly District

Diane Dixon (R-Newport Beach) announced her official endorsement by the Newport Beach Police Association (NBPA) for the 74th Assembly District. She is challenging freshman Assemblywoman Cottie Petrie-Norris (D-Laguna Beach) for the seat.

“Diane Dixon works tirelessly to ensure that our public safety personnel have an excellent working relationship with the community we serve,” said NBPA President Alex Maslin. “Under her leadership, the City has seen reductions in crime, high levels of trust among its residents, and a City that is leading the way in financial stability and responsibility.”

“Diane Dixon knows the dangers our officers and community members face due to irresponsible legislation, and she has the ability and drive to help make public safety a priority in California once again,” continued Maslin. “The Newport Beach Police Association is happy to announce we are proudly endorsing Diane Dixon for CA Assembly District 74.”

“I am honored to be endorsed by the Newport Beach Police Association,” said Dixon. “I am proud to have worked closely with our brave police officers in their efforts to battle crime, and I look forward to continuing that relationship to combat pro-criminal legislation in the Assembly.”

Diane Dixon spent 40 years in the private sector as a business executive before being elected to the Newport Beach City Council in 2014, twice serving as Mayor. She has served as Chair of the Water Quality and Tidelands Committee and member of the Finance Committee for nearly five years, including four years as Chair. During her tenure at City Hall, she has actively engaged city residents, holding over two dozen town hall meetings, working closely with local business owners and residents to solve community problems, and initiating numerous neighborhood and community improvement programs.

An active member on several philanthropic community-based boards of directors for nearly four decades, Dixon has been married for 44 years to career prosecutor Pat Dixon, with whom she has a daughter (a former prosecutor), son-in-law, and three grandchildren.

The 74th Assembly District consists of Newport Beach, Costa Mesa, Laguna Beach, Laguna Woods, southern Huntington Beach, and most of Irvine.
