Garden Grove residents can get free compost

Garden Grove residents can receive up to 60 gallons, per vehicle, of nutrient-rich compost for free at the annual Compost Giveaway event, on Saturday, March 21, from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., at the Garden Grove Municipal Service Center, located at 13802 Newhope Street. Proof of residency is required.

Vehicles must enter from the rear of the Municipal Service Center, on A Better Way, accessible from Anabel Street.

Residents must bring their own containers or buckets. Bags are not permitted.

Due to the popularity of this free event, residents should expect long lines.

Each year, Republic Services partners with the Garden Grove Sanitary District to host the Compost Giveaway as a special thank-you to residents for participating in the residential green waste collection program. For more information on the Compost Giveaway or any of the residential collection programs, contact Republic Services at 714-238-2444.

  1. Concerning the compost giveaway. I find several articles that mention the events in 2018 2019 it’d be nice if you updated the damn website. Very confusing.

    1. Sam,

Thank you for reading Orange County Breeze and for taking the time to comment on this article.

We regret your confusion over older articles. As we have been posting articles since 2011, and many communities do events like Garden Grove’s compost giveaway annually, you may find older articles about those past events. Since all articles are dated, we hope that the dates on each article can help relieve the confusion.

Again, thank you for reading Orange County Breeze.
