COVID-19 and the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition

As the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) outbreak expands, our priority at the Los Angeles County Bicycle Coalition is the health and well-being of staff, membership and the community at large. With this in mind we ask that you join us in following the recommendations of health and safety officials locally, regionally, and statewide.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has guidelines advising people with underlying health conditions and the elderly population to adopt measures of social distancing to protect against the spread of the virus.

Our office will be closed through the month of March, with all events, classes, and volunteer opportunities canceled or postponed indefinitely. While working remotely, our staff will continue to advocate to improve the built environment in Los Angeles, so that people walking, biking and taking transit can safely navigate their communities. We remain available to answer any questions you have at [email protected]

We recognize our options to socialize and recreate safely are more limited than ever due to the social distancing we have been asked to practice at this critical moment — thank you for taking care of yourself and each other! The good news is that bicycling is a safe option very much available to you, which is why we hope you will remember to be good to yourself by hopping on a bike to experience all of the benefits of connecting to your fitness and health, your neighborhoods and a sustainable future for Los Angeles.

Finally, for those in the position to do so, I’d like to ask that you consider doubling down on your commitment to a more bikeable Los Angeles by renewing your membership to LACBC and by making a donation to help ensure we can continue our work to transform Los Angeles into a more equitable, healthy and safe region to get around together.
