Full freeway closures for Magnolia Street bridge demolition

Governor Newsom has issued a “stay at home” executive order to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. Construction of public transportation projects is considered an essential service and is exempt from this order. Work will continue on the I-405 Improvement Project as scheduled.

UPDATE! Magnolia Street Bridge Demolition

Crews shifted traffic to the new side of the Magnolia bridge to prepare for the second phase of demolition. The remainder of the old bridge is set to be demolished over two weekends, beginning Saturday, April 4, under full freeway closures. Additional nighttime demolition is set to occur weeknights, beginning April 6, under freeway lane closures.

Closure Details:

NIGHT ONE:
10 p.m. Saturday, April 4, to 9 a.m. Sunday, April 5

NIGHT TWO:
10 p.m. Saturday, April 11, to 9 a.m. Sunday, April 12

CLOSURES:

  • Northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) I-405 between Magnolia and Warner
  • NB I-405 on-ramp from westbound Warner
  • NB I-405 loop on-ramp from NB Magnolia
  • SB I-405 loop on-ramp from SB Magnolia

Additional Demolition: 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights, beginning April 6 and continuing for several weeks.
