Senator Ling Ling Chang (R-Diamond Bar) released the following statement in response to Governor Newsom’s plan to modify the state’s stay-at-home order:
“Public health is the top priority right now as millions of Americans continue to follow the state’s stay-at-home order during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, we must simultaneously prioritize the reopening of our economy and develop a detailed strategy. Many businesses are in their fifth week of the shutdown, their cash reserves are nearly gone, and while we see some workers being redeployed, many others are unfortunately experiencing mass furloughs and firings. The Governor needs to start the next phase of response which is economic recovery for the 5th largest economy in the world.
“I’m committed to working with my colleagues, the Governor, businesses, and the workforce to develop a strategy to mitigate the economic fallout. Our families and small businesses deserve a detailed plan that is transparent and is a blueprint for long-term economic relief,” said Senator Chang.
Earlier this week Senator Chang joined her colleagues to deliver a letter to Governor Newsom urging the prioritizing of the economy as the next phase of the COVID-19 response.
