Young Kim welcomes Congress’ infusion of funds into Paycheck Protection Program

Young Kim, Congressional candidate for California’s 39th District welcomed Congress’ passage of additional funding for the Paycheck Protection Program while noting that businesses have been in crisis for over a week as they have waited for access to PPP loans.

“I am glad to see that Congress has acted to give our businesses some of the additional resources they need to get through these unprecedented times,” said Kim. “Now Congress and the Treasury Department must ensure that the small and minority owned businesses that make up the backbone of the 39th District’s economy are able to access these funds.”

Young Kim continued by admonishing Congress for their unnecessary, weeklong delay in approving additional funding for the Paycheck Protection Program.

“Small businesses and families across the 39th district are suffering from the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak and Congress’ inaction to provide additional funds for the Paycheck Protection Program left them out in the cold,” said Kim. “We cannot forget the lack of leadership and unchecked partisanship that brought us to this point. While the people of this District have stepped up in the face of this pandemic, our Representative, Gil Cisneros, shirked his responsibilities for over a week. The delay in funding was unnecessary and has further revealed the need for a strong voice fighting for the people of the 39th District.”

Young Kim has been in constant contact with local businesses and families desperate for assistance since the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak and has long called for action to expand funding to the Paycheck Protection Program.

  1. Why give her a platform ?
She was the loser Ed Royce’s toady that got beat by someone that actually cares about his constituents.

    1. Mr. Pharris,

Thank you for reading Orange County Breeze.

I approved the publication of this comment because I wanted to spotlight your personal attack against Young Kim — your comment does not advance a policy statement, or comment on one of Young Kim’s policy positions. Instead, you simply throw mud and make an unprovable assertion about her motivation.

Also, regarding “shaneful” — I realize that it’s likely to be an accidental typo for “shameful” but I rather like it. The heroic character of Shane in the iconic Western stands up to the bad guys to defend the good guys, so I will cheerfully apply that to Young Kim.

As for a reason to give Young Kim a platform: despite COVID-19 we are holding an election, and voters need to know about the candidates. Are you suggesting that we deliberately stifle publication of statements by Young Kim? That would amount to… censorship.

Again, thank you for reading Orange County Breeze.

      Stay safe, stay healthy!

  2. Hmmm. .. it’s ironic that Young Kim criticizes the passage of a bill that can help overlooked small businesses, when it’s her party that tried to pass bills that were straight giveaways to giant corporations with no common sense guard rails. And btw, it’s Gil Cisneros who is fighting to pass a bill that would provide full coverage for covid treatment for people who don’t have health insurance. #hypocrisy
