May 18, 2020

Auto Theft – 12:38 p.m. – 4500 block of Lincoln Ave. – Occurred over the weekend, an unknown suspect stole the victim’s gray 2009 Honda Civic from their assigned parking space. Vehicle was entered into SVS.
Suspicious Subject – 8:17 a.m. – 6800 block of Katella Ave. – Officers observed a suspicious subject behind Target. A male subject was cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia.

May 19, 2020

Area Check – 12:47 a.m. – 11000 block of Valley View St. – Two suspects pried the front door at business and tunneled through the wall into another business. The businesses were cleared. No loss from either business.
Vehicle Burglary – 7:19 a.m. – 9700 block of Walker St. – Occurred overnight, an unknown suspect gained entry to the victim’s vehicle via window smash and stole approximately $2,000.00 worth of tools.

May 20, 2020

Arrest – 1:59 a.m. – Cerritos/Valley View – From a car stop, a subject was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia, and a misdemeanor warrant.

May 21, 2020

Vehicle Burglary – 9:56 a.m. – 9000 block of Moody St. – Sometime overnight, an unknown suspect broke the passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle and stole sunglasses and a GPS device.
Assist Outside Agency – 4:55 p.m. – Belgrave/Knott – Westminster Police pursued a domestic violence suspect to this location and requested assistance when the suspect bailed out and fled on foot. Our officers were just north of the area and assisted with establishing and holding a parameter until the suspect was captured by the Garden Grove Police Service Dog and officers.
Senior Parade – 6:00 p.m. – Cypress High School – Officers participated in a parade through Cypress for the graduating seniors.
Arrest – 6:50 p.m. – 10000 block of Valley View St. – A male subject stole a beer and fled the area. Officers located the subject down the street, but he initially failed to stop. He eventually stopped on his own and was found to be on parole. The subject had an outstanding carjacking warrant and police arrested him.

May 22, 2020

Theft from a Vehicle – 8:12 a.m. – 6300 block of Casa Verde – Sometime overnight, an unknown
suspect broke the driver’s side window of the victim’s Hyundai Elantra and stole an iPod, parking pass and a hospital work badge.
Attempted Murder – 3:32 p.m. – 4400 block of Lincoln Ave. – Officers responded to a shots fired call
and located the victim and his girlfriend fleeing the scene in a vehicle. The suspects were gone on arrival.

May 23, 2020

Grand Theft from a Vehicle – 7:03 a.m. – 10600 block of Maple – Sometime overnight, a suspect entered the victim’s vehicle (unknown point of entry, no force) and stole $2500 worth of watches, a debit card and a passport. The suspect later attempted to use the debit card at a store in Stanton, but was declined.
Disturbance (Family) – 9:46 p.m. – 5400 block of Twin Lakes Dr. – Officers responded to a disturbance at a residence, where multiple family members were present. The majority of the family were intoxicated and one of the subjects had a loaded firearm inside his pocket. The subject with the firearm was inside his house and legally in possession of the pistol. After confirming no crime had been committed, the subject with the firearm voluntarily turned over the pistol to officers, so that it could be booked into safekeeping.

May 24, 2020

Transient – 8:18 a.m. – 6800 block of Katella Ave. – A transient began arguing with store employees after some of his personal items were disposed of overnight while the transient was away.
Vehicle Theft – 10:22 a.m. – 11300 block of Grand Manan – The victim’s property was taken from his unlocked vehicle sometime overnight. Loss includes a purse, headphones, pepper spray, and a Taser.
Robbery – 12:27 p.m. – 4400 block of Lincoln Ave. – Several Hispanic women in a black BMW took a woman’s purse while she was visiting a gravesite. The victim confronted the women, who fled. A good Samaritan nearby stopped the fleeing women by brandishing a handgun. The purse was recovered and the BMW fled. The man with the gun was released, but a report was taken for brandishing a firearm.
