Los Angeles County curfew renewed for Wednesday night into Thursday morning

Mandated by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the countrywide curfew, including in Lakewood, will run from 9 p.m. Wednesday, June 3 until 5 a.m. Thursday, June 4. Long Beach will also start their curfew at 9 p.m.

Under the curfew, residents must stay in their homes or on their property. Exceptions are made for residents seeking medical treatment or traveling to and from work.

Wednesday remains calm so far in Lakewood, and there were no incidents of looting or commercial burglary last night.

The City of Lakewood, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, will remain vigilant Wednesday night, with the National Guard again protecting Lakewood Center. Sheriff’s personnel can then be freed up to be more mobile throughout the city and protect neighborhood shopping areas.

The City of Lakewood will continue to provide updates on the public safety situation in our city as the situation evolves.
