Rep. Cisneros asks military leaders about minority representation in officer ranks and racial disparities in military justice system

Representative Gilbert R. Cisneros, Jr. (CA-39) asked military leaders about the connection between recruitment of communities of color and diverse representation in the officer ranks and racial disparities in the military justice system. “Right now, our country is having a serious, overdue conversation about racial inequities in our society. While we’ve taken steps to promote diversity in our armed forces, we also need to fix the racial disparities in the military justice system,” said Rep. Cisneros. “From recruitment to officer ranks, Congress must ensure we hold our military leaders accountable in creating a more inclusive, just, and fair environment. A diverse military force reflects our values as a democratic society and provides the United States with a strategic advantage.”
