Anaheim resident’s quiet idea cheers police, helps Cypress sandwich shop

Sherry has lived in Anaheim since 1962, when she and her small family moved in with Grandma.

Sitting quietly in that same house — sheltering in place with plenty of time to think — Sherry came up with a brilliant plan.

She had heard that morale was down among officers of the Anaheim Police Department. She wanted to do something to boost their morale.

She had also heard that one of her favorite local businesses, Subs ‘n’ Grub in Cypress, had finally re-opened after the looming coronavirus had forced the closure of the family-owned and operated sandwidh shop months ago. Sherry wanted to do something to offer a leg up to the sandwich shop.

Why not, she thought, do both at the same time?

She worked her phone, and after some extended telephone tag found someone at Anaheim Police Department who okayed her idea.

Dottie and Mandy at Subs ‘n’ Grub came on board immediately.

Which is how Sherry, Tim, and the Subs ‘n’ Grub staff found themselves posing for a photo in the parking lot just outside Subs ‘n’ Grub with eighty lunches that each included 2 six-inch sub sandwiches, potato salad, a brownie, and a soda.

Applause all around!
