Boys & Girls Club open for full–day in-Club kindergarten program

New this school year, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Anaheim-Cypress is open for a full–day in-Club kindergarten program!

The Club’s kindergarten program will be offered at Cypress College in the North Orange Continuing Education Building. The space is designed for early childhood programs and includes an enclosed outdoor space and hands-on materials for each child. Highly-skilled Instructional Aides will help each student follow their daily educational schedule, ensure they participate in remote classroom instruction with their classroom teachers, and provide support to help them complete their assignments.

The Club still includes the fun and social activities that support the emotional and physical well-being of youth. This is especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic, when children may feel isolated. The daily program will include arts and crafts, music and movement activities, frequent supervised outdoor play breaks, and social, physical, and emotional development skill building.

“As the former School Readiness Coordinator for the Cypress School District, I’m particularly concerned about the transition of young children to Kindergarten. Our new Kindergarten program will include all of the supplies and activities young children need to develop the fine-motor, large motor, social and academic skills they need to succeed in school,” stated Anne Hertz, President of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Anaheim-Cypress.

The kindergarten program will run Monday through Friday from 7:30am – 1:30pm at a rate of $150 per week. The Club is also offering extended care for kindergarteners until 5:30pm for an additional $50 per week.

Enhanced safety precautions for staff and members are in place within the Club. This includes frequent cleaning and sanitizing of all Club areas, wellness checks, social distancing, additional hand washing stations, small groups with lower member to staff ratios, and additional safety training for staff. Face coverings are required by all staff and members.

Space is limited and early registration is encouraged for the Club’s high-quality, low-cost programs. Scholarships are provided to ensure that no child is ever turned away for inability to pay.
