August 10, 2020

Burglary Report – 7:19 a.m. – Undisclosed location – Occurred between August 8, 2020 and time of report, an unknown suspect(s) broke into the locked construction site and stole $2100.00 in tools. No suspect information and no witnesses.
Traffic Stop – 12:24 p.m. – Katella/Walker – During a traffic stop, Officers arrested a male subject for possession of narcotics for sales, felon in possession of a loaded firearm, and numerous other weapon and narcotic charges.

August 11, 2020

Pedestrian Check – 7:20 a.m. – 10900 block of Meridian Dr – During a pedestrian check, a male subject was arrested for a parole violation and narcotic charges.
Burglary – 12:59 p.m. – 8800 block of Watson St – Between August 7, 2020 and time of call, an unknown
suspect(s) broke into the victim’s storage space and stole an AR-15, shotgun and an upper receiver.

August 12, 2020

Assault – 12:44 a.m. – 8600 block of La Salle St. – A female subject was arrested for assault and battery after she struck a female during an argument.
Assault with a Deadly Weapon – 2:12 a.m. – 6200 block of Pradera Wy. – A worker for a tow truck company was checking vehicle permits in the complex when he was assaulted by a male, white, bald, 50-60 yrs. The suspect allegedly struck the victim on the head with a handgun 5-6 times. The victim refused medical treatment and suffered only a minor laceration.
Arrest – 9:52 p.m. – 5000 block of Ball Rd. – A male subject was arrested for shoplifting, and a second male subject was arrested for commercial burglary. The second subject used a key to enter locked display cabinets, stealing high dollar items. The stolen/recovered amount between both subjects was $1,800 in merchandise.

August 13, 2020

Domestic Violence – 9:02 a.m. – 8700 block of Belmont – Officers responded to a hospital in Harbor City regarding the victim of a domestic violence. In the early morning hours on this date, a suspect assaulted his girlfriend, who had sought medical attention at this hospital. The victim was struck in the throat and head several times and had non-life-threatening, but visible injuries. The victim did not desire prosecution or a police report, but a report was taken and an EPO was obtained.
Traffic Stop – 3:46 p.m. – Cerritos/Los Alamitos Blvd – From a traffic stop, a subject was arrested for two warrants and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.

August 14, 2020

Theft from Vehicle – 6:44 a.m. – 5900 block of Corporate Ave. – Sometime overnight, an unknown suspect stole $4000 worth of tattoo equipment from the victim’s unlocked vehicle.
Probation Compliance Check – 8:30 a.m. – 9100 block of Evergreen – SIU and patrol conducted a probation compliance check and arrested a 35-year-old female subject, a 21-year-old male subject, and a 50-year-old male subject for for possession of a controlled substance, and drug paraphernalia. The second male subject was also charged with a probation violation.
Assist Outside Agency – 9:00 a.m. – 5800 block of Katella Ave. – Cypress Police assisted the Orange County Auto Theft Task Force, who were conducting surveillance on a stolen vehicle. Contact was made with the suspect in the hotel and the vehicle was recovered. An arrest was not made after OCAT learned there was a communication breakdown within the rental car company when they elected to report the vehicle stolen.
Power Outage – 7:00 p.m. – Valley View/Corporate – Portions of Districts 34, 35, and 36 were without power for approximately one hour. Edison was notified and power was restored at 8:00 p.m.
Burglary – 11:33 p.m. – 5500 block of Lincoln Ave. – While employees were closing the restaurant, a suspect was observed on video surveillance entering and stole a bag containing $1200.00 in cash. The suspect was identified as a twenty-five year old male. The room was registered to a female subject. Officers attempted contact at the room and the occupants were uncooperative refusing to open the door. Detective responded and a search warrant was obtained and served. A twenty-nine-year-old male and a thirty-six-year-old female were both placed under arrest for various charges.

August 15, 2020

Arrest – 11:06 a.m. – 8100 block of Commonwealth (Buena Park) – During a follow up of the burglary
from night shift, police located the suspect’s truck and initiated a surveillance. A short time later, police conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle as it was leaving. The sergeant was able to convince the suspect to respond to Cypress Police Department for an interview later in the day. At 5:30 p.m., Officers interviewed the subject and subsequently obtained a confession to the crime.

August 16, 2020

Disturbance – 10:01 a.m. – 6400 block of Dominica Avenue – From a call for service of a disturbance, it was determined two subjects attacked the victim with a plastic PVC pipe and a garden tool. The victim sustained injuries to his back and face. A male subject and a female subject were arrested for felony assault with a deadly weapon.
Arrest – 12:00 p.m. – Undisclosed location – Police took a forty-year-old male subject into custody for an outstanding attempted murder warrant.
