Burbank to Los Angeles project section public review period extension and telephone town hall

The California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority) has extended the public comment period for the Burbank to Los Angeles Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (Draft EIR/EIS) an additional 31 days to August 31, 2020 . The Section is part of the first phase of the nation’s first high-speed rail system. The Section is approximately 14-miles connecting Burbank (airport area) and Los Angeles Union Station, running mostly within the existing railroad corridor adjacent to the Los Angeles River.

The Draft EIR/EIS was initially made available for a 45-day public review beginning on May 29, 2020 and ending on July 16, 2020 and was previously extended to July 31, 2020. The Authority has decided to extend the public comment period an additional 31 days to close on August 31, 2020, in consideration of the COVID-19 outbreak.

During the comment period, comments may be submitted by mail: 355 S Grand Avenue, Suite 2050, Los Angeles, CA 90071, website: www.hsr.ca.gov, email: [email protected] and the B-LA phone line: (877) 977-1660. Comments must be received by project phone line, electronically or postmarked on or before August 31, 2020.

After the public review period, the Authority will prepare a Final EIR/EIS, which will include responses to comments received during the review period. For additional information on how to submit a formal comment, please visit www.meethsrsocal.org .

The online virtual open house website (www.meethsrsocal.org ) is available for the duration of the public comment period. The virtual open house offers the public an overview of the environmental documents, an opportunity to sign up for office hours, information on where to access the environmental documents, and how to participate in the public comment process.

In addition, the Authority invites you to participate in a Telephone Town Hall. The Telephone Town Hall will offer the public an opportunity to ask questions about the environmental documents. Project team members will be on the line to answer questions for the duration of the phone meeting. Comments or questions submitted at the Telephone Town Hall or Office Hours will not be part of the public record.
