The Youth Center is conducting a shoe drive through October 8th to raise funds for much needed safety and school supplies for local kids as they embark on a difficult school year. The Youth Center will earn funds based on the total weight of the shoes collected. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used or new shoes at The Youth Center (at 10909 Oak Street, Los Alamitos, CA 90720) from 8am – 5pm, Monday through Friday.
With only four weeks before the shoe drive concludes, The Youth Center has collected less than a quarter of the shoes needed to meet their goal. “We are asking our community to help us meet our goal so that we can provide much needed supplies to local kids in need,” said Jamie Harris, Program Director. “This is sure to be a difficult school year for many of them, and we want to do what we can to help keep them safe and protected as they go through it,” added Harris.
The Youth Center is looking for all types and sizes of shoes in any condition. By ridding your closet of old, outdated shoes, you can help local kids face this school year with the supplies they need. From Mary Janes to hiking boots, flip-flops to stilettos, High tops to moccasins, every donation brings The Youth Center closer to their goal of providing necessary equipment and supplies to every child in need.
