In each Clubhouse, highly-skilled staff will provide support for students to help them complete their assignments during the Club’s Power Hour homework assistance program. Even amidst these unprecedented times the Club still includes the fun and social activities that support the emotional and physical well-being of youth. Children are placed into small group cohorts and provided with activities such as online safety, health and nutrition, STEM instruction, and character education. Daily supervised outdoor fitness activities are included within the program. Teens in 7th-12th grade have specialized programming which includes leadership opportunities, college and career readiness activities, and age-appropriate curriculum.

Enhanced safety precautions for staff and members are in place within the Club. This includes frequent cleaning and sanitizing of all Club areas, wellness checks, social distancing, additional hand washing stations, small groups with lower member to staff ratios, and additional safety training for staff. Face coverings are required by all staff and members.

Space is limited and early registration is encouraged for the Club’s high-quality, low-cost programs. The cost for after school programs are $200 per month. Transportation may be available from local schools for an additional fee. Scholarships are provided to ensure that no child is ever turned away for inability to pay. Additional information is available on the website at or by calling 714-527-2697.

  1. I have 2 questions. Ann Hecht is the director of the Cypress Boys & Girls Club. Is Hecht running to be on the Cypress City Council to get the City of Cypress to give more money to the Cypress B&G Club? She tried before and lost. Will she recluse herself on all votes that have to do with the Cypress B&G Club?

    1. BYS,

Thank you for reading Orange County Breeze and for taking the time to comment on this article.

I believe that you are referring to “Anne Hertz” rather than “Ann Hecht.”

I cannot speak to her motivation for running for Council. However, the law is clear on conflict of interest. Should she be elected to the Council while still Director of the Boys and Girls Club, she would have to recuse herself from any vote dealing with the Boys and Girls Club.

Again, thank you for reading Orange County Breeze.

      Stay safe, stay healthy!
