REMINDER! Brookhurst Street Bridge Traffic Shift and Median Removal

Crews restriped Brookhurst to two lanes in each direction to create a work area in the center median between Slater Avenue and Talbert Avenue.

The center median is being demolished and removed to allow traffic to be shifted prior to the upcoming partial demolition and reconstruction of the first half of the Brookhurst bridge, which will commence after the Bushard Street bridge opens in mid-October.

Median removal and prep work are scheduled to continue 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays through mid-October.

Please be advised that this work may be loud.

COMING SOON! McFadden Avenue Bridge

The McFadden bridge is set to open to traffic in about two weeks. Crews are busy installing conduits, pouring concrete barriers and sidewalks, installing fencing, and sealing joints between the bridge abutments and the main bridge structure. The opening was delayed, according to the contractor, primarily due to a temporary shortage of cement/concrete.

The 405 Community Outreach Team will continue to provide detailed schedule information in future alerts.

COMING SOON! Edinger Avenue Bridge Closure and Demolition

About one week after the McFadden bridge opens to traffic, crews will close the Edinger bridge. Following a week of predemolition activities, complete demolition of the bridge is scheduled to occur in late October and early November. Dates and times are subject to change due to unforeseen
operational factors or inclement weather.

UPDATE! Heil Avenue/Landau Lane Closure

Crews will begin constructing the foundation for the Heil Avenue pedestrian bridge over I-405. This will require a two week closure of Heil between Ross Lane and Landau Lane.

The closure is set to begin as early as 6 a.m. Monday, Oct. 12, and continue for approximately two weeks.

Activities are set for 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and on Saturdays, if needed.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m. and some activities may occur at night.

Residential access will be maintained, and flaggers will be on-site to manage traffic. Please be advised that this work may be loud.

COMING SOON! Full Northbound (NB) and Southbound (SB) Euclid Street Closures

Euclid Street Closures for Deck Pour
Crews are scheduled to pour the deck for a portion of the widened northbound (NB) I-405 bridge over Euclid Street. This work will require a full closure of northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) Euclid between Condor Avenue and Ellis Avenue.

The closure is set for 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2.

Euclid Street Closures for Girder Installation
In addition, crews will install precast concrete girders for the widened freeway bridge over the Santa Ana River and Euclid Street. The girders are the main horizontal support beams for the new sections of the bridge.

A portion of this work will require full northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) Euclid Street closures between Condor/Mt. Washington and the SB freeway ramps. Residential and business access will be maintained.

Girder placement is set to begin as early as Monday, Oct. 5, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., for approximately one week. Crews may mobilize equipment as earlyas 6 a.m.

Closures are set for:

  • Night One: 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 9
  • Night Two: 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 9, to 6 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10
  • Night Three (if needed): 9 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, to 6 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 11

Note: Daytime lane reductions and nighttime directional closures on Euclid are ongoing to prepare for the girder installation.

NEW! Full Southbound (SB) Full Freeway Closures for Magnolia Street Bridge Falsework Installation

Crews will be constructing the falsework for the Magnolia Street bridge over I-405. This work will require full southbound (SB) and between Magnolia and Warner Avenue.

SB I-405 nightly closures are set for 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5, to Thursday, Oct. 8.

NEW! Fairview Road Bridge Waterline Installation

Crews will be installing a waterline for the Fairview Road bridge over I-405. This work will require northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) I-405 closures.

NB SR-73 to NB I-405 connector will be closed and NB I-405 will be reduced to two lanes 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.:

  • Monday, Oct. 5; and
  • Tuesday, Oct. 6.

SB I-405 will be closed and NB I-405 will be reduced to two lanes 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 7.

SB I-405 will be closed 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.:

  • Thursday, Oct. 8;
  • Friday, Oct. 9; and
  • Saturday, Oct. 10 (if needed).

COMING SOON! Full Northbound (NB) and Southbound (SB) Harbor Boulevard Closures for Falsework Installation

Crews will be constructing falsework for the I-405 bridge over Harbor Boulevard. This work will require full closures of northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) Harbor between freeway ramps.

Nightly closures are set to begin in mid-October.

COMING SOON! Northbound (NB) I-405 Loop On-Ramp from Harbor Boulevard to Close for Approximately One Month

Crews will close the NB I-405 loop on-ramp from Harbor for approximately one month to accommodate the freeway widening.

The ramp is set to close in mid-October.

UPDATE! Northbound (NB) Full Freeway Closures for Talbert Avenue Bridge Falsework Grading

Crews will continue grading falsework for the Talbert bridge over I-405. This work requires full NB freeway closures between Euclid and Brookhurst.

Full NB freeway closures are set for 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 30; and
  • Thursday, Oct. 1.

UPDATE! Full Northbound (NB) and Southbound (SB) Beach Boulevard Full Closures

Crews will continue removing the falsework for the I-405 bridge over Beach Boulevard. This work requires full closures of northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) Beach Boulevard between McFadden and Edinger.

Nightly closures will continue 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, to Friday, Oct. 2.

REMINDER! Northbound (NB) I-405 On-Ramp from Magnolia Street Closed for Approximately One Month

The NB I-405 on-ramp from SB Magnolia is closed for approximately one month. The ramp is being reconstructed as part of the freeway widening project.

Edwards Street

COMING SOON! Crews will begin installing piles for the foundation for the Edwards bridge over I-405.

Beginning as early as Wednesday, Oct. 7, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for up to one month.

Crews may mobilize mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur at night.

Bolsa Chica Road

COMING SOON! Crews will begin installing piles for the foundation of the center columns for the Bolsa Chica bridge over I-405, in the center median, west of the Bolsa Chica bridge.

Orange County Sanitation District

REMINDER! Crews are replacing sewer lines on Westminster Boulevard between Seal Beach Boulevard and Bolsa Chica Road.
