On September 21, 2020 Cypress partially reopened city facilities. However, just like before, all of our services are still available online for your convenience. Limiting contact with people is a proven strategy to protect the most vulnerable members of our community and slow the spread of COVID-19.
Cypress Senior Center
The Cypress Senior Center and all City facilities, are closed until further notice.
The Senior Center is providing weekday lunch service for seniors through a curbsie frozen meal pick-up.
Curbside pick-up of frozen meals will take place Monday – Friday from 11am to 12pm at the north end of the Senior Center parking lot on a first come, first served basis.
The Senior Home Meal Delivery program continues to operate on the normal schedule.
If you or someone you know needs a meal service (pick-up or delivery), call the Senior Center at (714) 229-2005 weekdays from 8am to 1pm.
Orange County’s Office on Aging
Orange County’s Office on Aging is available to assist seniors who may not have access to food or other necessities as they self-isolate to avoid exposure to COVID-19.
Older adults and/or their families are encouraged to call the Office on Aging’s Call Center at (800) 510-2020 for assistance.
Parks and Recreation
In accordance with the State’s stay at home order, the following park amenities are closed until further notice:
- Fitness Equipment
- Picnic Shelters
Consistent with revised State health orders, the skate park, pickleball, tennis, and basketball courts reopened effective May 2. The following safety protocols will be in place to ensure compliance with health guidelines and social distancing:
- One hour time limit on usage.
- Pickleball and tennis courts will be limited to singles play only. No doubles allowed.
- Basketball courts and the skate park will be limited to usage by four people at a time.
- Social distancing guidelines must be followed.
- City staff will be present to monitor and communicate safety guidelines.
Failure to follow social distancing guidelines and/or safety protocols, may result in the closure of these amenities.
Parks are still open for residents to take a walk, run, exercise, or play games that allow for social distancing.
Recreation Classes and Programs
The Cypress Community Center and all City facilities are partially open and allowing appointments.
Recreation and Community Services has virtual and in-person classes and programs available. Register online.
All Recreation and Community Services events, including youth and adult sports leagues, have been cancelled or postponed. Youth sports groups have postponed games and practices.
Cypress School District and Anaheim Union High School District fields and facilities are closed.
The City’s Emergency Operations Center is open and operating. 911 emergency services and Orange County Fire Authority are fully operational.
Additional Police Officers are patrolling the City. Police Officers continue to respond to calls to save lives, prevent injury, arrest violent felons, or stop violence. Other calls and reports are being taken over the phone.

To keep our council and staff safe and healthy, City Council meetings will be held via teleconference and residents will have alternative options to provide public comment. Details will be provided on posted City Council agendas.
Commission meetings will be postponed until further notice. The annual Commission Recruitment, usually conducted in spring, will be postponed until further notice.
The Building Division will still be processing building permits via email. Building and Safety inspections can also be scheduled. To obtain a building permit, please submit your plans and application to [email protected] or call 714-229-6730. Please call for time-sensitive projects.

Street sweeping keeps our streets clean and protects our environment. Please help by moving cars and keeping the street clear for the sweeper. Full street sweeping operations and citations have resumed.
Remember, when you see the street sweeper go by that clean streets help keep clean beaches.
