UPDATE! Edinger Avenue Bridge Demolition

Crews will demolish the Edinger Avenue bridge over two nights to accommodate the freeway widening. This work will require full northbound (NB) and southbound (SB) freeway closures.

Northbound I-405 will be closed between Magnolia Street and Edinger, and southbound I-405 will be closed between Beach Boulevard and Edinger.

The closures are set for:

  • 11 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, to 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 1; and
  • 11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, to 9 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8.

Additional nighttime demolition will occur for several weeks under freeway lane closures. Some daytime demolition also is anticipated.

Please be advised that this work may be loud. Dates and times are subject to change due to unforeseen operational factors or inclement weather.

REMINDER! Full Bushard Street Bridge Closure

Crews will install a joint seal for the newly opened Bushard bridge over the I-405. This work will require a full closure of the Bushard Bridge between Warner Avenue and El Rey Avenue.

Residential and business access will be maintained.

The closure is set for 10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, to 5 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 29.

REMINDER! Full Northbound (NB) and Southbound (SB) Harbor Boulevard Closures for Falsework Installation

Crews will continue constructing falsework for the widened I-405 bridge over Harbor Boulevard. This work will require full closures of NB and SB Harbor between the I-405 ramps.

Nightly closures are set to continue:

  • 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays
  • 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Fridays

REMINDER! Full Northbound (NB) Freeway Closures for Magnolia Street Bridge Falsework Installation

Crews are constructing the falsework for the Magnolia Street bridge over I-405. This requires full NB full freeway closures between Warner Avenue and Magnolia.

Nightly I-405 closures are set to continue 11 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 28, Thursday, Oct. 29, and again on Monday, Nov. 2 to Tuesday, Nov. 3.

UPDATE! Northbound (NB) Beach Boulevard Lane Reductions

Crews will perform utility work on Beach Boulevard for approximately the next five weeks. This work will require daytime and nighttime lane reductions on NB Beach between McFadden and Edinger and nighttime closure of the NB I-405 off-ramp to Beach.

Daytime lane reductions are set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Nighttime lane reductions are set for as early as 7:30 p.m. to as late as 8 a.m.

NEW! Full Euclid Street Closure for One Night

Crews will be pouring concrete for the widened freeway bridge over Euclid Street.

This work will require closing Euclid Street between Condor Avenue/Mt. Washington Street and the SB freeway ramps.

Residential and business access will be maintained.

The closure is set for 10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29 to 5 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30.

REMINDER! SB I-405 Off-Ramp to Bolsa Chica Road Closed for Approximately One Month

Crews closed the SB I-405 off-ramp to Bolsa Chica Road for approximately one month to accommodate the freeway widening.

REMINDER! Newland Street Lane Reductions for Waterline Installation

Crews will be installing a temporary waterline on the Newland Street bridge over I-405. This work will require lane reductions on NB and SB Newland between Edinger Avenue and Heil Avenue.

Nightly lane reductions are set to continue 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. for approximately two weeks.

REMINDER! SB I-405 Off-Ramp to Harbor Boulevard Closed for Approximately One Month

Crews closed the SB I-405 off-ramp to Harbor* for approximately one month to accommodate the freeway widening.

*The SB I-405 straight on-ramp will be closed concurrently during the day and will remain open during Harbor falsework activities at night.

REMINDER! NB I-405 Loop On-Ramp from Harbor Boulevard Closed for Approximately One Month

Crews closed the NB I-405 loop on-ramp from Harbor for approximately one month to accommodate the freeway widening.

Construction Activities

Fairview Road

NEW! Crews will continue installing piles for the foundation of a new retaining wall along northbound (NB) Fairview adjacent to Boston Way.

  • Ongoing 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, for approximately one month.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m. and some activities may occur at night.

Edwards Street

REMINDER! Crews will continue installing piles for the foundation for the Edwards bridge over I-405.

  • Ongoing 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. for approximately two weeks.

Crews may mobilize mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m., and some activities may occur at night.

Vermont Street

REMINDER! Crews will continue working on the foundation of the wall along southbound (SB) I-405, behind homes on Vermont Street. The foundation consists of approximately 180 cast-in-drilled-hole (CIDH) piles. This activity includes augering large holes, and installing rebar cages and pouring concrete into the holes to form the piles.

  • Ongoing 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, for approximately two months.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m. and some activities may occur at night.

Bolsa Avenue

NEW! Crews will continue installing piles for the wall along northbound (NB) I-405 between McFadden Avenue and Bolsa Avenue.

  • Ongoing 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays, for approximately one month.

Crews may mobilize equipment as early as 6 a.m. and some activities may occur at night.

Bolsa Chica Road

COMING SOON! Crews will begin installing piles for the foundation of the center columns for the Bolsa Chica bridge over I-405, in the center median, west of the Bolsa Chica bridge.

The 405 Community Outreach Team will provide detailed schedule information in future alerts.
