AUHSD Future Talks Podcast celebrates first ten episodes with two special episodes this week

The Anaheim Union High School District celebrates the first ten AUHSD Future Talks Podcasts with two special episodes this week featuring Art Bilger, founder and CEO of WorkingNation, and the first Spanish episode featuring Dr. America Bracho, Executive Director of Latino Health Access.

In the inaugural episode of AUHSD Future Talks, AUHSD Superintendent Michael Matsuda and AUHSD Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services Dr. Jaron Fried discussed the “Why?” behind the creation of the podcast, which included talking with special guests each week about the preparation of students for career and life success, equity, and the 5Cs (Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, Critical Thinking, Compassion).

In episode 10, Superintendent Matsuda interviews Mr. Art Bilger, a venture capitalist who started WorkingNation in 2016 to bring attention to structural unemployment issues, the future of work, the skills gap, and achievable solutions. During the interview, Mr. Bilger discusses possible solutions to structural unemployment, the importance of education, upskilling, data analytics, and provides some advice to young people.

Mr. Bilger has been an investor in, and director of, various private companies, including Akamai Technologies, where he served as Vice Chairman. He was also president and COO of New World Communications Group; a Founding Partner of Apollo Advisors; and Executive Vice President, Co-head of Corporate Finance at Drexel Burnham Lambert. He serves on the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School Board of Overseers.

Episode 11 of AUHSD Future Talks is conducted in Spanish featuring a discussion with Dr. America Bracho and AUHSD Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Mr. Carlos Hernandez. Dr. Bracho is the Executive Director of Latino Health Access, a center for health promotion and disease prevention located in Santa Ana, California. This center was created under her leadership to assist with the multiple health needs of Latinos in Orange County.

During the discussion, Dr. Bracho discusses how to heal a community, the Latino Health Access model, how epidemics are reduced to the pockets of poverty, how aggregated data makes people invisible, and how communities can move from surviving to thriving post-COVID-19.
