The Orange County Register Editorial Board announced its endorsement yesterday of Senator John Moorlach for Orange County Supervisor District 2, adding to a growing list that includes the Orange County Republican Party, the New Majority of Orange County, the Lincoln Club of Orange County and a host of others. As the OC Register noted:
“We’ve watched Moorlach’s career since he predicted the county’s 1994 bankruptcy, served as county treasurer, supervisor and senator. He’s brought the same watchdog talents and professionalism to all of those roles, so we wholeheartedly endorse him for the 2nd district supervisorial opening. Sacramento’s loss might turn into Orange County’s gain.” Read the full endorsement here.
Monday, the Republican Party voted overwhelmingly to endorse John Moorlach, with the OCGOP Chairman Fred Whitaker commenting, “John Moorlach is the strongest candidate for this seat, and he has the full backing of our resources and grassroots organization. We are proud to join the very strong coalition lining up to support Senator Moorlach for this special election.”
In the November Senate election, Moorlach won 57 percent of the votes coming from the overlapping Supervisor District 2, despite the $3 million of negative attack ads opposing his re-election to Senate. The special election for Orange County’s Second District Supervisorial seat is expected to be held in spring 2021.
