Orange County Clerk-Recorder to offer appointments for marriage services only at the department’s branch office locations

For those looking to tie the knot this coming year, here is great news for you! Effective Monday, January 4, 2021, Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen will be offering appointments for marriage services at his offices in Anaheim, Laguna Hills and at the Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana. Please note, no other services will be offered at these locations until further notice. Only marriage services will be available, with no walk-in service. Appointments will be available Monday through Friday (except holidays), from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the department’s Anaheim and Laguna Hills locations and from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Old County Courthouse in Santa Ana. To make an appointment, couples must complete an application and make an appointment online at the following link: https://www.ocrecorder.com/services/marriage-services.

“This is a great way to kick off the new year and we are looking forward to offering marriage services once again at our offices,” said Clerk-Recorder Hugh Nguyen. “I would like to thank everyone at Honda Center for making it possible for us to continue serving the public during these difficult times. I truly appreciate everything they have done to help. We will never forget their willingness to help us and to be a great community partner.”

The department will be offering appointments and will be implementing strict social distancing guidelines as well as the following restrictions to ensure the safety of the couples and staff:

  • Upon arrival, couples must remain inside their vehicle until department staff contacts them by phone to direct them to enter the building.
  • The following forms of payment are accepted: personal check, money order or a cashier’s check. Please make payable to the Orange County Clerk-Recorder Department.
  • For couples looking to obtain just a marriage license, only the couple can be present. No guests allowed.
  • For couples looking to obtain a public marriage license and have a ceremony performed, only the couple and one witness may be present. No guests allowed.
  • For couples looking to obtain a confidential marriage license and have a ceremony performed, only the couple can be present. No guests allowed.
  • Couples must present valid government issued photo identification at their appointment.
  • No walk-in applicants will be taken during this time.
