Rep. Lou Correa introduces legislation to censure President Trump over Georgia election interference

Congressman Lou Correa (CA-46) joined Rep. Hank Johnson (GA-04) and 90 of his colleagues in introducing a resolution censuring President Trump for abusing the power of his office by threatening Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger with vague criminal prosecution, if he failed to overturn the finalized and verified results of Georgia’s November 2020 presidential election and pursue the President’s false claims. Georgia has conducted two recounts and has verified 99.9% of signatures on mail-in ballots.

Rep. Lou Correa said, “In 2019, the House Judiciary Committee impeached President Trump over reports he attempted to solicit support for his re-election by extorting a foreign leader. Yesterday the Washington Post published an actual audio recording of the President attempting to extort Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State, Brad Raffensperger, by threatening him with criminal prosecution unless he found a way to overturn the will of Georgia voters. The President’s relentless attempt to overturn a free and fair election is appalling, and cannot be ignored. The President must be held accountable.

“For months, President Trump has consistently alleged election fraud in an attempt to overturn the will of the American voters. There was no widespread or systematic voter fraud in the 2020 election. The President’s own Attorney General has said so. The FBI has said so. The Department of Homeland Security has said so. The Justice Department has said so. The United States Supreme Court has said so, as well as dozens of state and federal courts through the county.

“President Trump’s continued effort to muddy the waters is the greatest threat to our nation’s democracy in our time. Georgia’s Republican Secretary of State is the latest American Patriot to step up and bravely challenge President Trump’s reckless attempt to overthrow our democracy. Congress must act and demonstrate to future leaders that such behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.”

  1. WHAT? How much more did we need to hear? You can say AMEN all you want. ‘What’s His Name’ is the only one that you will never hear say it. Not A PEOPLE, but ?????????????

  2. For goodness sakes, Democrats you should listen to the entire telephone conversation, not just what MSNBC and CNN played!!! Every day I wonder if the Democratic Party can embarrass Americans even more than they have the day before, and then they do. Let’s have an AMEN! Oops, can’t say that anymore. What are we supposed to say? “A-People.”

    1. You may have listened to the entire tape but you were not paying attention. The GA SOS was smart to record that conversation after Trump crapped on him multiple times. If Trump had kept his mouth shut that tape would have never been released. I supposed Trump was not responsible for inciting a riot and takeover of the Capitol building either.? He did a tremendous job of helping the Democrats win two Senate seats in Georgia.
