Community brings happy holiday to Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Anaheim-Cypress kids

This holiday season, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Anaheim-Cypress partnered with community members and organizations to collect gifts and meals for Club families facing difficult times due to the pandemic. The outpouring of love and support from the local community was unprecedented and brought smiles and warm hearts to so many.

SeaCoast Grace Church donated gifts from the wish lists of every registered member at each of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Anaheim-Cypress’s six open Clubhouses. In addition, SeaCoast Grace graciously donated 80 frozen turkeys to distribute at special holiday-themed Grab N’Go Food Distributions for both Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Each One Teach One purchased toys for 90 members off of their wish lists this holiday season. La Palma Mayor Nitesh Patel and his team also sponsored a Thanksgiving meal and turkey distribution.

Cypress Target and the Cypress Police Department teamed together to host the annual Shop with a Cop program again this year. 10 members were selected from the Club to participate in a “virtual shopping spree”. On December 15th the lucky recipients got to meet in front of Target to meet with the police officers, pose atop of PD’s motorcycles, sit inside the police cars, and meet Cypress Police Department’s K9 Kubo. The event culminated with smiles as the kids got to take home a shopping cart full of goodies from Target they had picked out online earlier in the week.

Brookfield Residential hosted a grab n’ go toy drive, complete with a visit from Santa. Cypress Rotary Club sponsored this year’s Adopt-A-Family program, assisting with toys and household items for 32 Club children. Bethlehem Lutheran Church sponsored eight families with gifts this year, as well as assisted with wrapping gifts for kids. Smart and Final sponsored an additional family, as well as donated several cases of waters and snacks for use in Clubhouse programs.

Cypress Council PTA and Landell Elementary sponsored holiday food drives. Over 6,000 pounds of nonperishable food items were collected to be bagged and distributed at the Club’s weekly Grab N’Go Food Distributions. Caterina’s Club also donated food for distribution, along with stockings filled with goodies for members.

Influence Church donated over 700 toys this holiday season. OC Parrot Heads contributed blankets and toys as well. Cypress Soroptimists provided grocery gift cards to eight families for Thanksgiving. Old Navy Anaheim Plaza donated clothing for families. Charles Williams donated new shoes to 40 appreciative kids. Latin Gents Car Club OC hosted a prosperous toy drive, donating two truckloads of toys. National Charity League purchased sports and art supplies for Clubhouses. In addition, several personal donors and community members spread cheer with gifts, goodies, clothes, and family necessities.

The holiday cheer was evident in the smiling faces of each Club parent and child as they loaded their cars with their wrapped gifts. Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Anaheim-Cypress is truly grateful to all of the generous donors and organizations that contributed gifts this year. You have helped create a memorable and special holiday for so many in a time where families could use some extra cheer more than ever. Thank you!
