This year’s speaker, Dr. Leah Gunning Francis, is a seminary professor, activist, mother of two African American sons, and author of Ferguson and Faith: Sparking Leadership and Awakening Community, a volume of stories gathered from clergy and young activists on the street in the aftermath of Michael Brown’s murder. Dr. Gunning Francis will share stories that will break your heart, inspire you, and incite action for a more just and equal world.

Reena Hajat Carroll, CCEJ’s Executive Director, says “We are thrilled to have Dr. Gunning Francis join us to speak at this pivotal moment in our nation’s history, as we reckon honestly with the legacy of racism in our communities and decide how we will take action to activate justice in our communities.”

This event is not to be missed! CCEJ’s Interfaith Intercultural Breakfast is an opportunity for people of all racial, ethnic, religious, gender identity and cultural backgrounds to come together to share in the vision of a truly inclusive community.

The event emcee is Rabbi Scott Fox of Temple Israel in Long Beach. This year’s event sponsors include Ann Lentzner and the Lentzner Family, Dr. Mike and Arline Walter, MemorialCare Long Beach, Performance Plus Tire, the Port of Long Beach, and Toyota TABC.

The event will take place via Zoom and will start promptly at 8:30 am. The cost is $25 per person; sponsorship packages are available starting at $500. Reserve tickets online at: www.cacej.org/breakfast. For more information, phone: 562-435-8184 or Email: [email protected].
