Long Beach man murdered in alley off of Elm Avenue

On Jan. 22, 2021, at approximately 2:40 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Elm Avenue regarding a reported shooting, which resulted in the death of a male adult.

Upon arrival, officers located a male adult victim laying in the alley suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper torso. Officers rendered medical aid until the arrival of the Long Beach Fire Department. Fire Department personnel also rendered aid, but later determined the victim deceased at the scene.

The victim has been identified as 25-year old Egary Baide, a resident of Long Beach.

Based on the preliminary investigation, the victim was in the alley when a shooting occurred. Detectives are searching the area for additional evidence and witnesses. The motive for the shooting has not been determined.
