February 15, 2021

Fire – 12:21 a.m. – 4600 block of Lincoln Ave. – Officers responded to the location for a report of trees on fire. Upon arrival, a 50-foot section of cypress trees located on the west side of the property were engulfed and dangerously close to the residences on Whitney Way. Officers evacuated several houses until the fire was extinguished. OCFA determined a down electrical wire most likely caused the fire. No residences were damaged and there were no suspicious circumstances.
Graffiti – 3:07 a.m. – 4700 block of Merten – Graffiti was discovered on the ground (large puddle of white paint in the street and sidewalk), and “UNAX3” was painted on the perimeter wall in the 8700 block of Sumner. The puddle of paint was coned off for motorists, and a message was left for Public Works.

February 16, 2021

Grand Theft – 1:43 p.m. – 10200 block of Valley View St. – Loss Prevention identified a theft that occurred on February 15 and was captured on video. The loss was $4000 in jewelry merchandise and the suspects were two females.
Assist Outside Agency – 3:58 p.m. – Knott/Danbrook (Anaheim) – Assisted Anaheim, Buena Park Police and Orange County Sheriff’s Department with a perimeter for 3 robbery suspects who fled from a vehicle after a pursuit. Cypress officers held two perimeter spots while OCSD and Anaheim PD caught the suspects. No use of force, no involvement in the pursuit.

February 17, 2021

Traffic Stop – 2:02 a.m. – Cerritos/Holder – An officer stopped a vehicle without license plates, and it returned as a stolen vehicle out of Hawthorne Police Department. A search of the vehicle yielded a loaded firearm and narcotics. One subject was arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, ammunition, methamphetamine and paraphernalia. A second subject was also arrested for possession of stolen property and narcotics.
Theft – 8:27 a.m. – 6800 block of Katella Ave. – At 7:20 p.m., on 2/16, a suspect stole $436 worth of alcohol. The employees could identify the suspect and desired prosecution.

February 18, 2021

Vehicle Burglary – 4:05 a.m. – 10500 block of Progress – Between 3:00 p.m. and time of call, an unknown suspect smashed the window of the victim’s vehicle and stole miscellaneous items and tools valued at $580.00.
Robbery – 10:04 a.m. – 5800 block of Lincoln Ave. (Buena Park) – While patrolling the
area, officers were flagged down and notified of a robbery that had just occurred. The information was broadcasted and officers were unable to locate the suspects on an area check. Buena Park Police Department arrived to handle the incident.
Assist Outside Agency – 2:46 p.m. – 3500 block of Howard Ave. – Officers assisted Los Alamitos Police Department with an assault with a deadly weapon investigation. Case handled by Los Alamitos PD.

February 19, 2021

Arrest – 9:16 a.m. – 10900 block of Meridian Dr. – From a call of a female pushing a male subject, a female subject was arrested for misdemeanor domestic violence and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Suspicious Subjects – 7:39 p.m. – 10200 block of Valley View St. – From a suspicious person call for service involving two females possibly stealing items in the store, two subjects were arrested for shoplifting.

February 20, 2021

Catalytic Converter Theft – 5:15 p.m. – 51XX Sequoia Avenue – Sometime overnight on
02-19-20, an unknown suspect stole the catalytic converter from the victim’s vehicle.
Assist Outside Agency – 8:11 p.m. – Seal Beach/Anchor (Seal Beach) – Seal Beach PD initiated a pursuit of a stolen vehicle in the area of Pacific Coast Highway and Phillips. During the pursuit, two Seal Beach PD units were involved in a traffic collision near the intersection of Seal Beach Blvd. and Anchor Way. Cypress Officers responded and handled the traffic collision investigation.

February 21, 2021

Pedestrian Check – 12:57 a.m. – 5500 block of Lincoln Ave. – From a pedestrian check, a male subject was arrested for child endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and outstanding warrants. The subject had custody of his son, who was found to be cold and dirty sleeping on top of a bike trailer. Drug paraphernalia was found directly under where his son was sleeping.
Recovered Stolen Vehicle – 9:02 a.m. – 4300 block of Lincoln Ave. – The victim’s stolen vehicle was recovered after being parked at the location for a week. Original theft out of LASO-Cerritos.
